Flora & Fauna
Flora
We are blessed with an amazing indigenous flora throughout Klein Slangkop, some plants being very rare. The picking of plants or flowers within the Estate's public areas and in the adjacent SANPARKS area is strictly prohibited.
The Environmental Management Plan provides rules to minimise the environmental impact of commercial activities (e.g. building, maintenance or gardening) and defines guidelines for the sound environmental management of Klein Slangkop Estate.
Homeowners are encouraged to plant indigenous plants adapted to the dry Cape summers and what occurs naturally in the area. They are responsible for (and legally obliged) clearing invasive Alien Vegetation.
The illustrated Recommended Plant List assists homeowners and their landscaper in what to plant and what to avoid.
Fauna
Besides a variety of birds, wild animals like mongooses, caracals, and porcupines can be spotted in the estate. Occasionally a baboon will visit.
Watch out for tortoises crossing the road and be aware of highly venomous snakes like puffadders or Cape cobras or not venomous mole snakes.
